Vesso is a restaurant and hospitality industry veteran with over 25 years of experience including consulting, concept restaurants, casual dining, and hotel F&B operations.
Vesso was born and raised in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik in the Adriatic. His culinary journey began at a very young age where the Serbian-Croatian culture encouraged family and friends to gather – each taking part in the traditional seasonal cooking of juicy lamb and goat under the sac grill and preparing home grown fresh salads. Dinners were not complete without wine and rakia, which Vesso helped his father prepare from their vineyard since his earliest memories. For Vesso, food has always been about bringing people together, creating memories and celebrating life.
His love of flavours and agriculture inspired him to attend the Dubrovnik Hotel and Tourism School followed by a Diploma at the University of Dubrovnik in the Department of Tourism and International Trade. It is at his time at the Hotel Argentina where his creativity was ignited.
In 1990, Vesso took a six-month culinary sabbatical, where he travelled through former Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, Switzerland, Belgium, exploring and gaining incredible amount of international flavours.
In 1990, Vesso made the move to Geneva, Switzerland joining Geneva’s well known establishments including the Mövenpick Hotel, Le Cigalon, Hotel Richmond and Bistro Dumas where he kicked off his professional career as a Chef.
In 2002 Bistro Des Bergues was created, where Vesso stepped outside of the kitchen and took the role of owner and operator where his profound appreciation of food, wine and people flourished.
Vesso currently resides in Lebanon with his wife who is from a Southern town world renowned for olives. Together with their two year old, much of their time is spent in rural regions of Lebanon. Vesso offers culinary consulting services in the MENA region.
