Beirut, October, 2019: Wooden Bakery, one of Lebanon’s oldest and celebrated bakeries, has partnered with the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation for the month of October, joining the fight against cancer through raising awareness and fundraising.

All throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Wooden Bakery will be donating 5% of its Manakish sales from all its 40 Wooden Bakery shops across Lebanon to the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation who in turn will allocate the raised funds to the treatment of breast cancer patients. The funds will also contribute to increasing awareness regarding early detection which can save 9 out of 10 women from the harsh grip of cancer.

In addition, Wooden Bakery’s customers can make their own contribution to patients’ treatment by participating in the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation’s 5 WBASS or JUST 5 campaign which encourages people to donate an amount of 5000 LBP. Donations are made through special donation boxes placed at all Wooden Bakery branches in Lebanon for the entire month.

Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Assaad Bou Habib & Mr. Ghassan Bou Habib – Vice Presidents at Wooden Bakery said, “The fact that 1 in 8 women are suffering from breast cancer and that someone is diagnosed every 30 minutes is startling and makes this issue one of the most pressing to address. However, with the right amount of awareness regarding the importance of early detection, 90% of the lives at stake can be saved! While this is the first year Wooden Bakery launches such a campaign, we pledge to continue to support the fight against breast cancer by making this an annual initiative.”

This campaign is also supported by Dairy Khoury, Elle &Vire, Regilait, Balkis, Instashop, Bioland, Grand Cinemas & Vivad who have also contributed to the fight against breast cancer with very generous donations.
